A 35-year plus year veteran of the music business, Jay remains constant in his ability to represent the world’s finest musicians.  After graduating with a degree in Jazz Studies from the University Of Bridgeport in 1979, Jay & his trumpet spent four years on the road touring with some of the country’s finest show/lounge/horn bands. While on the road, Jay managed to receive valuable experience by running the day to day operations of a touring band. Payroll, schedules, contract negotiations, club owners, truck breakdowns pre-cell phones, etc. Forty eight weeks a year and six nights a week for four years, gave Jay an empathetic feeling for the touring musician. In 1983 Jay opened his first booking agency Productions Unlimited, Inc in Stamford, CT. “I purchased lounge entertainment for hotels, clubs, and restaurants.” “I also managed Show Bands and booked them on tour through 30 States.” “By 1987 I started representing Wedding/Bar Mitzvah Bands through a needs based system of consulting with the end purchaser.” Jay found this type of Entertainment Representation the most equitable for both parties. “I still provide the same service for the musician as well as the promoter/purchaser.” Jay feels that making a “marriage of the right musician for the right venue” is the only way to book entertainment. “Between the lounge pianists, touring show bands, lounge bands, private party bands; I probably negotiated close to 500 contracts a year.” 1993 started a new beginning with Preferred Artists. “I absolutely love the name.”  “With my first love of Jazz music, I feel I represent the musician who excels in his musical technique and performs with imagination and feeling.”
